Start by asking
Before working through anything below:Is anything broken or underperforming right now?Hamla checks the failures that hide — a campaign that stopped firing, a connection whose access expired, an audience that emptied, sends that are bouncing — and tells you which one you have. Most of the time that is the whole diagnosis.
”It says it sent, but nobody got it”
This is the most common one, and it is almost always the audience rather than the sending. Before anyone can be messaged, they have to pass five checks. Failing any one removes them silently:
Ask directly:
How many contacts do I have, and how many can I actually be messaged on email? If the second number is far lower, or zero, it is nearly always consent. Contacts imported without recording permission load as leads you can see but cannot message. Fix it once for the whole list in Contacts → Contacts Management → Consent, or say so when importing. Import your customers covers it properly. The other frequent cause is the last row: a push campaign can only reach people who accepted browser notifications, which is always a fraction of your list.
”My campaign never fires”
It is still a draft
Hamla cannot launch anything on its own. If you asked for a campaign and never clicked the confirmation card, it is sitting as a draft. What’s running right now?
The event name does not match, exactly
If your campaign starts from an event you send yourself, the name has to match character for character.Purchase is not purchase. booking_completed is not booking-completed. There is no fuzzy matching and no correction — the event arrives, matches nothing, and nothing happens.
What event names have you actually received from me in the last week?Compare that list to what the campaign is waiting for. This one failure accounts for most “I sent the event and nothing happened”.
Hamla cannot see the moment at all
Some triggers need a source. A campaign that starts when someone browses your site needs the Hamla script on your site; one that starts when someone books needs the booking tool connected. Hamla will tell you which is missing and give you the one thing that fixes it — install the app, paste the snippet, connect the tool, or move up a plan. The trigger is not fully configured
Launch refuses with “a trigger must be configured” when a required detail is missing. An Instagram auto-reply needs both the post to watch and at least one keyword. A campaign that starts when someone joins an audience needs the audience chosen. Say what is missing and Hamla fills it in.”I imported everything and nothing sent”
That is deliberate, and it is protecting you. Imported history goes down a quiet lane on purpose: no campaign fires, and no audience-entry blast goes out. Otherwise importing a year of past orders would send a year of messages in one afternoon, to people who did those things months ago. The history still counts for everything else — audiences, timing, revenue, reports. It just does not pretend the past is the present.”I asked for a popup and it won’t attach”
A popup or an on-site notification can only run while someone is actually on your site. That is the only situation in which there is a page to show it on. So it works as part of a campaign triggered by on-site behaviour — scrolling, moving to leave, viewing something — and it cannot be a step in a campaign that runs on a schedule or starts from an event on your server. There is nobody standing there to show it to. For those, use email or push.”My audience is stuck at an old number”
An audience that has not changed size in a while is usually frozen rather than broken. If its rule refers to a custom field that no longer exists, Hamla holds the last known membership rather than silently emptying it — because an audience that quietly drops to zero keeps campaigns running against nobody. Restore the field and it heals by itself. The other cause is simply a rule that matches nothing. Ask:How many people are in each of my segments?A segment sitting at zero was probably written with rules that cannot all be true of the same person at once.
”My ad audience stopped updating”
Same protective instinct. If a refresh would change far more of the audience than a normal day ever does — usually a rule edited by accident — Hamla stops and flags it instead of emptying a live audience your ads are spending against. Unblock it deliberately with Sync now on the audience. A Meta audience that is simply smaller than the Hamla one is not a fault: not everyone’s email or phone is on a Meta account, and that gap is normal.”The numbers say zero and I know that’s wrong”
Check you asked for a number your business can score on. Conversions means money — a purchase, an order, a payment. If what you want is a booking, an application, a signup or an enquiry, that number reads zero no matter how well you are doing. Ask in plain words instead and let Hamla pick the measure:How many people did the thing I wanted last month?Measure what works has the full mapping.
Still stuck
Here’s what I set up, here’s what I expected, here’s what happened. What’s wrong?Hamla can read its own campaigns, audiences, connections and recent events, so describing the gap is usually enough for it to find the cause.
